Abstract

Background. The article reads about the necessity of scientific understanding of the mechanisms of polysemy in the text of legal documents. The relevance of the formulation of this problem is caused by the contradiction between development of a natural language and requirements of clarity, certainty to the linguistic expression of legal acts.
Materials and methods. The material for this study were texts of legal acts. The research methods were the following: generalization of scientific experience on the research problem; the semantic analysis of language units; the linguisticcognitive analysis of the mechanisms of polysemy.
Results. The study formulates the tasks that will allow a systematic study of the mechanisms of polysemy in the text of legal acts.
Conclusion. The linguistic-cognitive approach to the study of the mechanisms of recognition of the ambiguities in the text of legal documents seems to be the most productive. It will allow not only to penetrate into the essence of semantic processes, but also to understand the mechanisms of functioning of the human cognitive system.
